The Volunteer Center of Erie County is pleased to announce the Women of Excellence Celebration 2012
will be held on March 18th, 2012 at the Kalahari Nia Center.  Nomination Form

Started in 1989, this Celebration was organized by Providence Hospital’s Women’s Center. It was created to give service clubs, schools, and churches an opportunity to honor area women for their outstanding volunteer service to the community. To date, over 450 women have received this honor. When the area hospitals consolidated, Firelands Regional Medical Center became the sponsor of the Celebration. Beginning in 2009, this event has been organized by The Volunteer Center of Erie County while the necklaces for the nominees have been sponsored by the Zonta Club of Sandusky+.

 

A  Woman of Excellence is nominated based on the following guidelines:

 

  1. Nominees should have served Erie County through volunteerism in an exemplary manner.

 

  1. Nominees can be recognized for ongoing work, or for one exceptional project.  All areas of volunteerism can be considered with the exception of political work. Work done through a political forum that benefits the broader community is eligible.

 

  1. Services rendered for pay should not be considered. Recipients may be selected for community service activities related to their work or profession.

 

  1. Recipients are selected by the organization. Winners are not required to be a member of the organization. Only one nominee per organization is permitted.

 

  1.  Recipients may only be recognized once in a lifetime. Please review list of past recipients before nominating someone.
     
  1. Service groups should follow a selection process, and nominees must have approval of that group’s governing body.

 

  1. The Volunteer Center has the right to use names and photos in connection with publicity.
