The Volunteer Center believes volunteers and groups engaging volunteer should be recognized for their efforts. Below are the awards we are pleased to present to people helping  make our community a better place to live and work.

Youth for Excellent Service Award
The Youth for Excellent Service! Award is presented monthly to an individual 21 years of age or younger who has served Erie County through volunteerism in an exemplary manner in either an on-going or one time project.

President's Service Award
President's Service Award
is a national presidential recognition program for Americans of all ages who contribute a significant amount of time to volunteer service. This Award is given annually to individuals, families and groups that have demonstrated outstanding civic participation and volunteer service over a twelve month period by The Volunteer Center.

Lavender Award for Excellence

The Lavender Award for Excellence is given annually to a program, organization or agency in Erie County, Ohio that has shown exemplary use of volunteers to meet the needs of the community.  Named for Mary Ann Lavender, founder of The Volunteer Center, this award acknowledges the importance of volunteer programs within the agencies that serve those in need. The winning organization receives a donation of $2,000.00.

Woman of Excellence Award
The Woman of Excellence Award was established  in 1989 to give service clubs, not for profit agencies, schools and churches an opportunity to honor area women for their outstanding volunteer service to the community.  Nominees can be recognized for ongoing work, or for one exceptional project.
