The Youth for Excellent Service! Award is presented to an
individual 21 years of age or younger who has served Erie County through
volunteerism in an exemplary manner. This award acknowledges the importance of
youth involvement in community service by giving public recognition and a
financial contribution.
Each winner receives a $100.00 savings bond, donated by Buckeye Cable system. In
addition, each monthly winner is featured in public service announcements for a
one-month period of time, providing an opportunity for young people to learn
about the accomplishments of their peers and be encouraged to follow their
examples.
Applicant can be nominated by the agency for whom they completed the service,
school officials, church, their peers or parents.
Eligibility-
Recognition can be for on-going work or for a one time project.
Nominee
must be 21 years of age or younger at the time of the nomination.
All
areas of volunteerism will be considered with the exception of partisan
political work. Work done through a
political format that benefits the broader community can be considered
eligible.
Work
done as credit or as part of an internship will be considered. Court
mandated service or service that is compensated beyond expenses occurred
will not be considered eligible.
The
nominee must either reside in Erie County or have performed the service in
the County. Work done on a state, national or international level will be
considered when done by an Erie County.
